The Oriental Land Company announced that a new temporary event titled “Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy” will be held at Tokyo Disney Land (TDL) from January 13 to March 20 in 2015.
The event will take on themes from Disney’s Frozen that follows sisters Elsa and Anna as they explore a world created by Elsa’s powers, but deal with her magic’s chilling consequences. Organizers will decorate the whole park just like the film, but recommend against bundling up to visit the park.
Organizers are also planning to change the theme park’s nightly entertainment show “Once Upon A Time” to a special version with Frozen incorporated into it. Anna and Elsa will also appear on the daytime parade with the theme song, “Let it go”.
Furthermore, special menus will be available and about 25 kinds of special goods will be sold at TDL.
Frozen was released in US last November and won in two categories during the 86th Annual Academy Awards. It is also ranks 1st in the world grossing animated film surpassing 2011’s Toy Story 3.
The movie was released in Japan in March of this year and caused a social phenomenon. According to an article in Variety, there were over 400,000 pre-sales of the film and now over 1.15 million DVDs sold to Japanese audiences. Another report from DVD ranking website Oricon states that over 2 million DVDs have been sold to date.
