“I look like I’m 15 years old, so maybe that’s a reason why the fans love me,” Togashi said.
The 20-year-old is the shortest and lightest player in the NBA summer league in Las Vegas, at 143 pounds. He was born in Japan, but played basketball at the same high school as NBA superstar Kevin Durant in Maryland.
After he received no NCAA division one offers, he moved back to home and played professional basketball in Japan.
He played for the Akita Northern Happinets, where he led the league in assists and playing time.
While he didn’t get an NBA contract as his stint with the Dallas Mavericks’ summer league team came to an end, he said that his goal still hasn’t changed. He wants to make the NBA.
He will declare himself eligible for the D-league draft where he hopes to continue to playing in North America, chasing his hoop dream.
