TORONTO — The third-place Thornhill Sluggers, captained by Justin Ogino, captured this year’s JC3-Pitch Championship. They played their best ball of the season and defeated Tod Nagamatsu’s second-place iA Private Wealth 34-22 in the semifinals.
They then continued their hot hand by edging Nick Chung’s Thornhill Toyota squad 26-25 in the championship game. Fourth-place Thornhill Toyota earlier upset the first-place team, defending champs Back2feet 27-26 in the other semifinal game.
A buffet banquet was held at Dragon Legend on Sept. 9. Forty players and guests attended the all-you-can-eat feast, followed by award presentations and door prizes for each attending player. Congratulations to Justin Ogino and the Champions Thornhill Sluggers and the four Team Spirit Award winners: Jeff Kam, Roxana Lati, Dan Reid, and Tsao-Ling Yu.
The JC3-Pitch League would like to thank our sponsors for their support during the season. Andrew, Yim, and Gar Lok from Back2feet; Marty Kobayashi from iA Private Wealth; Larry Kimura for the Thornhill Sluggers; and Chad Howson of Thornhill Toyota.
