HIROSHIMA – You may have heard of bird’s-eye view, but what about cat’s-eye view?A cat stands in front of Ushitora shrine as part of Cat Street View, a project created by the Hiroshima Tourism Board.
On Tuesday, September 1, 2015, the Hiroshima Tourism Board unveiled the world’s first online map created from a cat’s point of view.
The images taken low to the ground give the viewer the sense that they are prowling the streets as if they were a cat living in the city.
The map was created to promote Hiroshima prefecture’s hidden attractions that are frequented by the city’s feline population. Everything from shrines in back alleys to some interesting shops can be found on the paths available.
Onomichi city, which is well known for its cats and slopes, was selected as the first area for the map.
Another interesting part of the map is that there are a number of profiles for the cats that appear.
They have already released two areas of the map in early September, and organizers are going to add two more on October 1, 2015.
